The Brazilian Butt Lift ProcedureÂ
Brazilian Butt Lift surgery is an outpatient procedure that is conducted in an accredited surgical facility under local or general anesthesia. Because Dr. Schaffer includes a back lift in many of his buttock augmentation procedures, there are typically four steps to surgery:
- An incision is made across the low back. Skin and superficial tissue are carefully removed to lift the backside and create a smooth surface. This incision is closed with sutures.Â
- Fat is harvested from a donor location such as the abdomen or thighs using liposuction.Â
- Extracted fat is processed to separate desired fat cells from unnecessary material.
- The most viable fat is placed into a syringe and injected at varying depths of the buttocks to add volume and shape.

Butt Lift Recovery
Recovery from a butt lift can take several weeks, during which patients need to follow detailed post-operative instructions.Â
Immediately after surgery, compression garments may be applied. The gentle, consistent pressure of these garments aids in healing by reducing swelling and minimizing disruption to incisions and injected cells. While pressure from compression garments is beneficial, it is not advisable to place direct pressure on the buttocks during recovery. Patients need to avoid sitting directly on the buttocks for approximately six weeks after surgery.
